BODY & WELLNESS
Chinese Medicine
At its heart, Chinese medicine views the body as an ecosystem of interdependent elements. The elements each have tastes, seasons, emotions, sounds, smells, physiological functions and pathologies associated with them. The elements within a person can be affected by external factors, such as contagious germs, climate, diet and traumatic injuries and also by internal factors such as stress, emotions, and deep-rooted imbalances.

Functional Integrative Medicine
Ancient energetic medicines that have been honed for thousands of years are now taught at modern universities. Rachel partners with medical doctors, naturopathic physicians and other bodyworkers to seek out the best care for her patients. She is always happy to provide referrals when she can.

Herbal Therapy
Herbs have been used in every culture throughout history to treat ailments and regulate the natural functions of the body.
Dr. Farber is a licensed herbalist who is trained in Chinese and Western herbalism. She uses organic, locally grown herbs whenever possible. Herbal remedies can be used on their own, but are ideal when combined with acupuncture, hands-on therapies, dietary changes and emotional repatterning.
Craniosacral
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle treatment that assists in releasing tensions throughout the body to relieve pain and dysfunction. Practitioners release restrictions in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system.

The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Daily stresses and strains as well as injuries cause distortions in the craniosacral system that can cause tension around the brain and spinal cord. Not only can this result in pain, but it can also aggravate the central nervous system.

Massage and Therapeutic Bodywork
Massage and therapeutic bodywork invite the body and brain to rest and rejuvenate. Through soothing gentle touch and deep tissue manipulation, chronic tensions release, and the soft tissues of the body (muscles, tendons, connective tissue, fascia) relax.

Massage also improves circulation of blood and lymph. This enhances delivery of oxygen and nutrients to muscle cells and allows tissues to function more efficiently, resulting in elimination of waste products and excess fluids and decrease in inflammation.

Massage also initiates the relaxation response, a state in which the heart and breathing rate slow, blood pressure lowers and the production of stress hormones decreases. This allows an increase in available serotonin, a chemical which positively affects emotions and thoughts.
